Corgi Human Cannon Posted by Picasa

Cannon Fodder

New Scientist ran an article this week about a US Defence Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) patent application to use human cannonball technology to propel special forces, police officers and fire fighters onto the roofs of up to five story building in less than two seconds. Of course, the trick with the "Controllable Launcher" is to get the trajectory just right. Cannon-Mania has a nice gallery of human cannonballs from the past. Your average cannonaut travels at speeds up to 90 mph and as far as 201 feet at a height of 100 feet. They endure forces of around twelve G's on landing and more than half were killed while performing. Cannon-Mania doesn't currently sell or build human cannonball cannons, but click on Home Fort to link to the Arsenal Store and shop for one of the more than 150 cannons offered for sale.
